Empty trash on exit doesn't work

The KMail config file has this setting:

  empty-trash-on-exit=true

yet KMail does not empty trash on exit. The next time I use KMail, all the 
trash folder emails are still showing.

I see the bug at http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=180018 states 'resolved' 
though ??
