The 'about' for KMail states:

KMail
Version 1.10.3
Using KDE 4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3)

but I'm using Ubuntu (Intrepid) and have all updates applied, so am already 
using the latest KMail for Intrepid. I wouldn't like to simply upgrade to KDE 
4.2.0 , as there may be other ramifications for all the other 'K' apps I use.

The trash is getting emptied now though, apparently I had a window 'closed' 
but could not see it.
