It's no big deal.  Just that sometimes we get a 200-message thread that was 
interesting for the first 20 messages, then deteriorated into bike-shedding.  
When the thread has got beyond recall I would like to mark it 'Ignore' and not 
see that thread among my to-read messages.

As I said, no big deal.  I can still 'Mark thread read'.
