Thank you for your answer. I made it to work, however it was weird.
1. I have LDAP configured in kaddressbook general settings.
2. I was unaware of some "resource" fields in address books list.
3. I added LDAP address book, duplicating fields from general LDAP
settings. I have absolutely no idea why do I have to do that.
4. I removed "resource" address book, then it reappeared automatically
as "źródło danych" (Polish equivalent of resource, I suppose)
5. I restarted KMail

Users' photos started appearing.

Taking all into consideration, I am not sure what and why I did, but
finally it worked.
