Anyway, I'll try to answer: If you create an IMAP account then you get an entry (in the folder list) with the name of the account on the same level as "Local Folders". Below this entry the folders of the IMAP account are shown (similar to the folders below "Local Folders"). Does he want to use the IMAP account in POP3-fashion, i.e. download all his mail instead of leaving it on the server? If yes, then he should probably use POP3 instead of IMAP (provided his ISP also offers POP3). If he still wants to download via IMAP, then he should create filters to filter all of his mail into local folders.
