Hallo Siegfried,
I am using a similar setup so I'll offer a couple of suggestions.

First of all, before doing anything, please make a backup of your public and 
private keys in case anthing goes wrong. Also make a backup of your 
revocation key if you have one.

If you have started to use your keys with other people then safeguarding your 
keys is important because you do not want to have to ask your friends to 
revoke your old lost key and begin using a new one. (That can get old.)

In Kontact click on E-Mail -> Settings -> Configure KMail and you will see 
various tabs on a dialog box. Click on Composition.
There you will see options for Signing and for Encrypting.
Your problem _could_ be here in that you have checked  "Automatically sign 
messages" and also "Automatically encrypt messages whenever possible"

You should uncheck those if they are checked. Then you can decide as you send 
each message whether it is sent in the clear, signed, encrypted, or signed 
and encrypted.

I hope it is that simple.

Otherwise, if you have safely copied your keys (and verified that the copy 
worked) you might do well to uninstall completely and reinstall. Then you 
could import your keys from safekeeping.
