I just tried this as well. Got the same problem. However, using Kolab 
works AFAICS.

KMail (the one of KDE 3.5.10) crashed though, when creating the folders 
in the inbox. Create them manually, then it works:

Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tasks, Journal
