Hi, Martin.  Now I'm back home I'm looking at this problem again.  For some 
reason my ical will not import into google - it doesn't give me any helpful 
message, only that it fails to import.  I do have to find the reason for that 
before I can do anything else - manually setting up a new calendar to mirror 
the old one is not an option.

If I get that sorted, then your detailed instructions are likely to be a great 
help, thanks.
