KMail encoding in base64

Hi,

I just noticed that KMail sometimes encodes my mails (replies to some mailing 
list mails) with base64. I haven't found out yet when and why this is 
happening though.

Does anybody know why this is happening (the original mail I'm replying to is 
not base64 encoded) and how to prevent KMail from doing this?
