Yes, it happens with my KMail  (1.11.2 and KDE 4.2.2 on Ubuntu Jaunty), CPU 
useage skyrockets, and KMail is very sluggish. Of course it also slows down 
other apps.  :(

It's almost as if KMail is dynamically updating the search results. For 
example, if another new mail comes in that might meet the search criteria, it 
will show that in the search results.
