I've also experienced the same, especially with ToDo's, which is 
rather anoying :-) It was happening already in KDE 4.3.0.

In order to avoid having to restart kaddressbook I just enabled the 
"Resource Bar", and I just unckeck and recheck the calendar I want to 
"refresh".
