You shouldn't need to import it.  Simply copy the std.vcf from your old distro 
into ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc (in some distros it will be .kde4).  If you still 
have access to a backup of the whole of .kde, check out ~/.kde(4)/share/config 
and copy across any files you find that begin with kabc or kaddressbook.

Open Kontact (or kaddressbook if you prefer stand-alone) and you should now 
have your old addresses in the default addressbook.
