Hey this is like "I want a new car, any suggestions?" So with any
specific information on what you plan to do with you new notebook you
would get probably thousands of notebooks recommended.

If you need a cheap mobile computer that is well supported by
most newer Linux-distributions have a look at the eee pc's. I own a 1005
and I am quite satisfied with it. 

However I find it a bit unpolite in posting an unspecific and rather
private question like this across so many more or less fitting mailing
lists. I am personally on the kdepim-users mailing list and I find the
question there quite off topic.
