Turning off the info panels?

Hi, wondering if there's a way to turn off the hovering info panels that always appear over the folders when I'm mousing around.  I really hope so...they block other folders and I often have to wait before they disappear...would be nice to just turn them off completely.  I'm using KDE: 4.3.4 and KMail: 1.12.4.
