Kontact Tip of the Day causing problems

This is so weird and doesn't affect any of my other KDE PIM applications. 

I'm running KDE 4.4 SC on OpenSUSE 11.2. This problem began when I updated to 
KDE 4.4 SC.

When I start Kontact the Tip of the Day pops up but is not responsive. I am 
unable to click the close button or remove the check mark from the show tips 
on startup check box. As a result I can't actually do anything with Kontact 
and have to force stop the program.

As I mentioned this doesn't seem to happen when using stand-alone Kmail, 
Korganizer, etc. 

I'm not even sure where to begin troubleshooting this one, but any help would 
be greatly appreciated. I miss Kontact!
