I tried every hint I could extract from this mailing list, forums and 
webpages. I experienced freezing and crashing programs, removed all regarding 
files, folders and settings, started over and over again and again and 
again...

Now it magically works. I have no idea what was wrong and what is now right. 
But one thing is for sure: my wife is mad as hell because I spend the whole 
day trying to fix our computer. So much for the WAF of the latest KDE 
version... :-)
