OTOH, if KDE SC 3.5 serves you well then there's no reason to switch. I have used 3.5 until about 2 months ago. Now I'm using 4.4. So far I haven't found anything in KDE SC 4 which made the switch worthwhile for me, but since for me everything works as good as in 4.4 as it used to work in 3.5 I will stay with 4.4. Of course, everybody else's mileage will vary. I encourage everybody to stay with the version they are currently using unless there are extremely compelling reasons that make a switch necessary.
