In the mean time, I am using kpilot from KDE4.3.5 with KDE4.4.2 and it 
works just fine (syncing a Palm Centro to kontact). Using Kubuntu, I 
just installed the kpilot package from the karmic repo onto my lucid 
system, and it works perfectly.
