I am still on KDE 3.5. and Kontact 3.5.9. I yet do not know how 
KDE/Kontact 4.x stores and handles data. But if version 4.x might still 
use "std.ics" and "std.vcf" files for contact, calendar and todos, we 
have a possibility to *raw* sync that files. I know that this means 
discipline and not having the possibility to sync if both sources have 
changed items of fields. For me it would be very happy to have only 
that.
