You can run *any* Debian applications for the armel architecture via a 
Debian Chroot Image.

But to be fair, it is not easy to handle applications which are made for 
higher resolutions on the small display and on a slow cpu.

After all, if you want too, you can run OpenOffice natively on the 
N900 - no mobile hack but a pure full OpenOffice with no limitations.

Try a package search at debian for Armel architekture packages (here 
with Lyx):
