another glitch! ghost addresses

I'm using kmail 1.13.5 and kaddressbook 4.4.9 under OS 11.3.  When using the 
automatic address retrieval mechanism for a certain address (e.g. searching 
for xyz) while copmposing an email, I get xyz's current email address plus 
another that I deleted several months ago (e.g. xyz@abc plus xyz@def where def 
is the outdated address).

I have not found a way to get rid of this extra address.  It seems to be an 
orphan entry in kaddressbook's database.  What can I do?
