The main disadvantage of kolab is (imho): the only client I know of is kontact (besides webinterface). To my point this is not sufficient. I recently found SOGo. This system is standard driven (GroupDAV, CardDav, CalDAV and imap) but with not supported with current kontact. I heard that the upcoming new kde-pim will support it. It has a good web interface and some plugins for thunderbird. And with funambol it supports some mobile clients. I have not tried new kde-pim (could not get it installed on my fedora 14 box) but may be it is worth to wait.
