Migration mixedmail resource fails

Hi -

I have a persistent problem with migration of kmail 4.4 to the new akonadi based kmail. 
I end up with the dialogue that kmail found an unusable configuration and will terminate 
now. But from the start (sorry, the following is a bit long):

In order to test the new kmail and protect myself against losses, I copied my the directory
 holding my mail from my stable desktop machine to my "running on the edge laptop"  
together with the kmail configuration files (where I adjusted the mail location). 
On this laptop, the configuration is

The mail is stored under ~/Mail, since I run KDE from ye olde times  and I like 
to keep my mail separate from the config files, i.e. I never migrated to the dotfiles. 
In the KDE4.4 config email from a pop3 account goes there. 
Next I delete all config files from akonadi and kmail2 configs, i.e.

Now running kmail the migrator starts. It runs, and I have the pop3 account migrated 
and also the Mail folders.  At the end it says, migration was successful, but during 
migration it complains afew times with the message

Closing the migrator window, kmail starts and says

The error was:
You do not have read/write permission to your inbox folder."

As an altyernative, I removed the whole config and tried to confgure a "Kmail Folders" 
resource. But when I point it to ~/Mail, it says that there is no cur/ directory and the 
configuration is not usable. 

So at the moment I cannot use the new kmail. Any ideas? Could the problem be that my 
mail folders are really from the yore times KDE 1 or 2 the latest? If so, how can I solve it?
I captured all the konsole message from kmail and could send them if needed.
