That mostly worked.  That setting is local to each message unless it is set in 
the mail Kontact window, which is good.

It did not work for the message in question because the attached image is a QR 
code.  It works for everything else.  I guess something is broken in the way 
that iphone attaches these QR code images, and that does not surprise me.  The 
text from the raw email is:

If it displayed properly I would be able to go straight to this website by 
holding my phone up to the image and taking a picture.

Ultimately, it would be awesome if Kontact was QR code-aware itself..... :)
