undo kmail2 migration?

Hi,

now that KMail2 has proven unusable for me during the last few days, the 
question is if there is a safe way back to kmail1. 
All emails are pop2 and stored in ~/Mail.
I have hopes that the bugs are fixed, but until then I'd like to have a 
working email reader, without destroying any akonadi database or future update 
paths.
Any experience? Just downgrade and start KMail1?
