Thanks for the reply. I have a classic Unix set-up, sendmail/procmail delivers 
my mail to /var/spool/mail/robin. This always worked perfectly with KMail1. 
Issues with KMail2 include:

> 1. Filters are not applied to incoming mail, I need to do it manually with

> 2. If I don't use monitoring the mbox account never gets updated with new
> mail;
> 3. If I do use monitoring I get an annoying popup and chime every time the
> mail arrives;
> 4. The mbox never gets emptied, so I keep on getting the same mail.

This has been a show-stopper in upgrading to the new KDEPIM. I suppose I could 
migrate to maildir but that's too many changes to a stable system.
