you certainly are seeing some problems/bugs I am not experiencing - I 
have other issues like nepomuk/virtuoso eating my CPU and trying to wrap 
my head around akonadi-resources and how they are actually MEANT to be 
set up / configured. As I can find no documentation for that... but 
piecing together bits and pieces from bugreports, blogs etc.

Never mind - what is your version of KDE and KDEPIM? I am on Kubuntu 
11.10 myself with KDE and KDEPIM version 4.7.3

Perhaps you are on an earlier version, I heard they were more problematic?
