So, backup your mail folders (~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail) before
change it to local folders. 

backup (or move) ~/.config/akonadi/ and ~/.kde/share/config/akonadi*

and build akanodi resources again (from scratch). 

yeah upgrade kmail to kmail2 are a kind of strange thing, you will also
need nepomuk search system active to have search and auto search in
adressbook .
