Slow deletion of emails

Hello

I am using kdepim 4.9.5 on archlinux and I find the deletion of emails to be 
extremely slow.

I am subscribed to lot of mailing lists and most of the emails in my inbox are 
immediately deleted, many a times without reading.

I find that kmail takes 2-3 seconds to delete a single email. Deleting a 
thread could take upto 10-15 seconds, depending upon the thread size.

I am using postgresql backend for akonadi and it is not logging any slow 
queries(> 50ms).

Also, it wasn't like this always. It was slow during 4.8.x days and an upgrade 
to 4.9.x sped it up immensely and it was practically instantanious. But it 
slowly deteriorated into the slow speed again.

Does anybody else see this problem too? Any solutions?
