Importing messages

I'm running Kubuntu 13.04 with KDE 4.10 and I've been trying to import 
messages into KMail from one machine to another, but I'm getting errors like:
Local Folders: Maildir "for collection" is invalid.

Also, why won't the importer allow me to import messages into the "Local 
Folders" folder? I have to create a new folder and then move the folder to the 
correct place afterwards.
