Possible additional info on duplicated emails due to auto filtering

I use auto filters to move all my emails coming into the Inbox.

When they are moved to folders which are described as mailing list folders, i 
get the occasional duplicate email every time i open kmail.

But

i also get a lot of spam emails (upto 100 per day) from japanese sites for 
some reason and i put together a filter that catches each one and moves it 
directly to the Wastebin folder.  I never seem to get any duplicate emails in 
the wastebin folder.  I check this manually scrolling through checking for 
duplciate dates/times and then double checking by running "Folders/Remove 
Duplicate Mails".
