I think this was reported but I cannnot remmember where I saw it. KDE or 
Novell Bugzilla.  I have experienced this also. It random and I have 
found no way to recreate it. My frequency is not neccarily once a day. 
But the only solution I have found is as described above: Shutdown and 
restart Kmail( 4.10.5 and prior version).
