desktop-laptop synchronization

Does anyone have any tips on synchronizing KMail from desktop to laptop and 
back? All my mail is from POP3 sources. Do I need to match KMail versions 
exactly? (4.10.5 vs 4.11) Any tips or tricks from the often-mobile?
