Does your IMAP account keep being checked when KMail is stopped?

E.g. if you run

kcmshell4 akonadi_resources --args message/rfc822

before you are sending such a mail, is the status of the IMAP account that
hosts the sent-mail folder "Ready" or something else?

Do you have a caching IMAP account, i.e. can you access mails without
connection to the server?

Cheers,
Kevin
