Also see the bug reports I linked about file_db_lost+found Raising SizeThreshold in Akonadi config seems to keep amount of files in there down, at the expense of larger database size. Actually I prefer having files, but with the *excessive* caching even with maildir (!) and online IMAP accounts up I had several hundred thousands up to 850000+ files on one machine. I do think the caching in Akonadi is broke. It caches to much for too long. For offline IMAP, sure, download everything. I´d prefer a maildir for that, cause its introspectable and not all in one directory, but well. I wrote enough about this already. Reference my other posts about it, might have been on kdepim-ml as well.
