There is something borked with the database.

But I am not sure what it is.

You seem to have MySQL 5.7, I remember that there was a change in the config 
file for MySQL 5.7. I didn´t need this change, cause I use Akonadi with 
MariaDB.

And I think that change should already be in Akonadi 16.04, but I may be 
mistaken there.

Maybe someone else knows the details of this, but I´d suggest to research 
about Akonadi and MySQL 5.7 from a first hunch.
