I did that, and  - after a reboot - the Spam/Ham icon behaviour 
returned to normal.

In addition - for the bogo filter that finds a spam email - I changed 
the target folder to a different one, so that I can see when (and if) 
Bogofilter actually captures one itself, and changed it to 'unread' to 
flag the event.
