It is already in the master branch of the kio repository. As soon as kde 
creates a new release, you are ready to go.

As I had (like I understood you had as well) pressing need for the calender to 
work, I took the Arch build system's information and rebuilt the current 
package once more with the patch applied manually. This way, as soon as an 
updated version I am on my track again without manually holding the package 
back.

Unfortunately I do not know how to do this in tumbleweed.
