At least I tried to shut it down. The kmail icon was still in the > tray. Then KMail wasn't really shut down, but only hidden. You have to quit KMail (via File->Quit or Ctrl+Q) to shut it down. The close button of KMail's window will just close the window, but KMail will keep running in the background, e.g. to check for new mail. Regards, Ingo
