SSL client certificates and kmail

Hi all,

I have a question regarding kmail.
Is it possible to use ssl client certificates with it and how do I do it?

Google was not very helpful.

What I tried: 
- set up the connection to the server without anything else:
  IMAP client loops on "connecting to server".

- Import the certificate to kde's ssl configuration (not sure whether it
  worked), same result.

Any idea?
