Yes, I also have seen this for a long time as well and only with Gmail, I 
wonder if after time it times out and looses authorisation?

I am in the habit now of restarting akonadi before I send any Email via Gmail 
as restarting Kontact does not work for me.

Running KMail 5.16.2 (20.12.2)
