Getting access to Gmail in Kmail

Hi

Access to my gmail account stopped a while ago but i've only just started to look into it.

I deleted all the gmail account config and the gmail imap folder disappeared from sight (as expected)
I then tried to recreate the Identity and accounts again.  It asked me to allow access to the wallet which i granted as "always". it created the Receiving and Sending config ok but does not recreate the folders.  But it can never connect, always says "user denied access to wallet".

I logged into another user and tried the same thing.  This time it took me off to a Google page for Akonadi Authorisation for gmail and the account and folders created ok in this kmail account and it populated the folders.

How can i get the other account to follow this set up process?  I have tried numerous times to recreate it in the original account and it still fails the same way.  Is there something else i need to delete so kontact/kmail thinks its never previously had a gmail imap set up?
