I remember I had some similar behaviour a few months ago. Can you post the =
versions you are using? My problem got fixed very quickly, thus I dont know=
 much more about it. I remember it seemed to be about certificate chains or=
 so... faintly... IIRR it only crashed if the recipients PGP/* came with an=
 "official chain" of certs, but I may be totally wrong.

turn off crypto signature/encryption and see if the error prevails
