Kmail does not load all mails

I would use kmail on opensuse leap 15.5 to get emails from my Gmail
account, about 19 thousand items.
Kmail does not load all emails, reaching about at January 2017. Every time
'reload' is triggered, different top date is reached, weird behaviour. It
seems that 'reload' implies a complete reload, that takes time, rather than
a quick update.

Incoming emails, more than 9 thousand items, are all displayed, but not
updated when 'reload' is triggered, so essages deleted on Gmail account are
still there, according to kmail.

Any hints?
