Not even a bit faster? Oh well. For any further steps you need the Barcode4J source code. Set it up in your favourite Java IDE. I can't be sure that caching the BufferedImage instances is worth a try, so I'd start by running a profiler to find out where most of the time is wasted. You know what a profiler is, don't you? I don't know how I can elaborate. If you don't know what I'm talking about here then I'm afraid can't help you very much as I don't have enough time at the moment to explain everything. I will take it on my todo list to run the profiler myself when I have time. But I can't tell when that will be.
