Try adding these lines after you create axisChart object

       AxisChart axisChart= new AxisChart(dataSeries, chartProperties,
                                          axisProperties, legendProperties,
                                          width, height);
       axisChart.setGraphics2D((Graphics2D) panel.getGraphics());
       axisChart.render();
