In case someone is playing
with the idea, just updated production Squeeze to Wheezy and
changed DB from MySQL to MariaDB leaving

the Aubit code in place (recompiled Aubit and 4GL apps)

MariaDB5.5 on Debian Wheezy (3.2.0-3-amd64)

All running smoothly without *any* changes from what I can see

There is certainly "something" for what the 4gl code expects back from the UI :

aubit4glsrc/lib/libui/ui_xml/uilib/xml/triggers.dtd

contains the DTD its expecting..

For whats sent forward from the 4gl to the UI - I think the easiest
way is to look at the C# code :

http://aubit4gl.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/aubit4gl/trunk/remote_ui/C%23/AubitDesktop/samp.cs?revision=890&view=markup

I'm let to beleive you can extract xsd/dtd from a serialized c# object
like this - but I've not tried recently
Let me know if that would help and I'll give it a go..

Its mostly fairly straightforward..
The 4gl program emits an XML stream the UI reads.
The UI responds with a TRIGGERED packet with the event ID and some data..

Actually coding it in a useful UI for anything thats non-trivial
though is "non-trivial"..
By that - I mean - if you want to be able to handle all current 4gl
constructs - its not easy - but if you have a specific app - and you
want a custom front end - for example - with something like a POS
system - that shouldn't be too hard!

Hi,

is there a description of the xml protocol used for the ui available? I
searched for hours but came up with nothing.
