Thank you. adding ${PG}/lib to LD_LIBRARY_PATH solved the compile failure. Now, the next stumbling block. Running the compiled program produces:
Error opening terminal: xterm.
But if ${PG}/lib is removed from the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and the database statement is removed, the re-compiled program run just find.
Any help would be appreciated.

Subject: Re: [Aubit4gl-discuss] libpq.so.5 cannot open shared object file.
Looks like it cant find the libpq (postgresql) library..
Do yo have that on your system ?
If so - try adding the directory containing it to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH
If not - is there a newer version or something eg. "libpq.so.6"
If so - you'll need to recompile aubit4gl so the libSQL_pg8 links to the right one...
