it sounds very good to replace decimal(16) internally with decimal(32,16). for us it would function. I hope it would also get internally replaced this way when using DEFINE something LIKE table.column_as_decimal16 in the 4gl code. maybe it could make sense to use an environment parameter to activate this replacement? As I said - I've worked on many many commercial applications - and I've never used a decimal(x) in any of them..
