I think you're asking the question the wrong way around.
If you have an error, you'll know - sqlcode will be set to an error.
If you *need to determine* exactly what the error means because you'll do
something differently based on it, then you can map the error code you are
getting to any error number you like (you can always use google or
finderr or any number of ways to get the error number Informix uses), and
use that if you wish.
